Four Nights instructors volunteer to present their programs and are also busy working photographers. Please do NOT contact instructors regarding their session. Their only obligation is to prepare for and present their evening program. All inquiries about Four Nights programs should be

Studio Lighting - April 2008

Joerg Lehmann – April 1, 2008 Oakland
This program covers the basics of studio lighting for the portrait photographer. Joerg introduces
lighting concepts and offers a hands-on presentation of studio lighting equipment. He will discuss various types of lights and explain the use and advantages of light modifier such as softboxes, umbrellas and
grids. The explanations will be enhanced with demonstrations on a live model (that position is still open). The program is meant to be interactive and participants are encouraged to bring questions regarding

Kurty Wong – April 8, 2008 San Francisco
Kurty will demonstrate the five basic lighting techniques commonly used for most photo shoot situations. He will show how to effectively photograph people with a simply one light setup, as well as full
wrap-around lighting with four studio strobes. Live model will be present for various headshots and portraits poses demonstration. Students are encouraged to bring magazine cutouts for the lighting they wish to

John Pratt - April 22 7-9 pm San Jose
John started his business in 1990 and since then has won numerous awards. The most notable is being awarded
Photographer of the Year for the Professional Photographers of Santa Clara Valley in 2005 and 2003. This lighting class will cover the basics of Rembrandt lighting and will quickly advance to implement edge lighting
as well as spot lighting. The class will be held in JP's recently remodeled Artist Loft Studio in downtown San Jose.
Tom and Faye Dawdy – April 29, 2008 Burlingame
Tom and Faye Dawdy will be demonstrating high key and low key lighting,. They have operated a portrait studio
since 1977 had their store front Portrait Studio for 31 years. Tom is a lifetime member of PPGBA and also is a PPA Master-Photographic Craftsman, Faye is a PPA Photographic Craftsman, this will be a fun
